Hakim ibn Mu’awiya Al-Qushairi related from his father, who said: I said: Oh Messenger of Allah, what is the right of the wife of any of us over him? He said: That whenever you eat you feed her as well, whenever you clothe yourself you clothe her as well, that you do not strike the face, you do not rebuke [tuqabbih, “make ugly”], and you do not dissociate yourself except at home. (Abu Dawud said that “do not rebuke” refers to when you say “May Allah rebuke you!”)
