Abdullah ibn ‘Amr ibn Al-‘As related that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) told a certain man: I have been ordered that the day of sacrifices [adha] be a festival [‘eid] instituted for this ummah by Allah Mighty and Sublime. The man said: What do you think if I don’t have anything but a female sheep I’ve been given – should I sacrifice it? He said: No, but you can cut a little of your hair, clip your nails, trim your mustache, and shave your pubic area; that will be the completeness of your sacrifice for Allah Mighty and Sublime.
