If two people bear witness that a man adulterated with a woman in a white shirt, or two bear witness that he adulterated with her in a red shirt, or two bear witness that he adulterated with her in a linen garment, or two bear witness that he adulterated with her in a silk garment, their declaration is complete. However Al-Shafi’i said: It is not complete, due to the contradiction between two declarations. By us there is no contradiction between the two, for indeed it is possible that he had two shirts on, and each two remembered one of them, and lost track of the other; and it is possible that he had a white shirt on and she had a red shirt on; whenever the possibility for agreement exists, refutation is not permissible.

Ibn Qudama, Al-mughni, The book of legal punishments [hudud], Issue: Or four free and impartial Muslim men bear witness against him, describing the adultery
