Abu Salamah related that Abu Huraira told them that the Prophet (SAW) said: A widow is not given to have marital relations [nikah] until she has been consulted about it, and a virgin is not given to have marital relations until she has been consulted about it. And some people said: Oh Messenger of Allah, how does she give permission? He said: By not saying anything.
