Hisham ibn ‘Urwa related from his father, who said: ‘Aishah said: Oh nephew, the Messenger of Allah (SAW) did not favor any one of us over another regarding dividing up the time He spent with us. It was a rare day that He did not go around to all of us; He would approach all the women, without sex [masis, “touching”], until He reached the one whose day it was, and He would spend the night with her. Saudah bint Zam’a, when she grew old and feared that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) might separate from her, said: Oh Messenger of Allah, my day can be for ‘Aishah. And the Messenger of Allah (SAW) accepted. She said: We say that regarding this or regarding something similar was when Allah Most High sent down his revelation that said { If any woman fears aversion on the part of her husband … } [Al-nisaa 128].
