Ibn Shihab said: Sa’id ibn Al-Musayyib related to me that he heard Sa’d ibn Abu Waqqas say: ‘Uthman ibn Madh’un wanted to live in celibacy, however the Messenger of Allah (SAW) forbade him; but if He had permitted it for him, we would have castrated ourselves.
