Rabi’ ibn Sabra related that his father said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah (SAW) on the farewell pilgrimage and the men said: Oh Messenger of Allah, indeed abstinence has become too much for us. He said: Go and enjoy from these women. So we came to them but they refused to have marital relations with us unless we fixed a period of time between us and them. The men mentioned this to the Prophet (SAW), and He said: Fix a period of time between you and them. So I went with a cousin of mine; he had a garment and I had a garment, but his garment was better than my garment, and I was younger than him. We came upon a woman and she said: One garment is the same as another. So I married her and remained with her that night, then left in the morning, and the Messenger of Allah (SAW) was standing between the pillar and the door, saying: Oh people, truly I had given you permission for enjoyment, yet truly Allah has forbidden it until the day of resurrection; so whoever has something going on with them, let her go her way, and do not take back anything you have brought to them.
