It was mentioned that ‘Ali provoked ‘Amr ibn Al-‘As one day, and struck him with a spear; he threw him to the ground and his private parts were exposed, and ‘Ali turned away from him. His companions said to him: What’s with you, Oh Leader of the Faithful, in turning away from him? And he said: Do you all know who he is? They said: No. He said: He is ‘Amr ibn Al-‘As, and indeed he has exposed his private parts to me, and has reminded me of kinship; so I turned away from him. And when ‘Amr made it back to Mu’awiya, Mu’awiya said to him: Praise Allah and praise your ass!
