Ibn ‘Abbas related that a certain man divorced his woman [dhaahara], but had sex with her before making atonement for the divorce. He came to the Prophet (SAW) and mentioned this to him, and He said: What drove you to do that? He said: Oh Messenger of Allah, I saw the whiteness of her ankles in the moonlight, and I could not help myself from having sex with her. And the Messenger of Allah (SAW) laughed and ordered him not to go near her until he made atonement.
