Maimunah bint Al-Harith, the Prophet’s (SAW) wife, said: whenever the Messenger of Allah (SAW) washed Himself from sexual impurity, He began by washing His hands, then emptied water from His right side onto His left and washed His crotch, then He struck the ground with His hand, wiped it, and washed it, then He performed ablution as if for prayer, then He emptied water on His head and on the rest of His body, then He moved back and washed His legs.
