Scholars have disagreed on the lawfulness of marital relations with women in their rears. A sizeable group made it permissible; Ibn Sha’ban compiled this in the book Jima’ Al-niswan wa-Ahkam Al-qur’an [Sex with Women and the Rulings of the Qur’an], and ascribed its lawfulness to a noble party from among the Companions and Followers.
